Siding Spring Observator and the Warrumbungles

Tags: AAT, UK Schmidt, Warrumbungles

Looking south to the Anglo-Australian and UK Schmidt Telescopes (foreground) on Siding Spring, the spectacular Warrumbungle mountains are in the distance. These structures are the eroded remains of a large volcano, active about 13 million years ago. In the foreground are the domes of the UK Schmidt and Anglo-Australian Telescopes.
